Zooville Feedback and bug reporting thread.

I've been unable to load the site from Tor for around 8 days, it's obviously working at this particular moment. Just thought I would report in case no one else has.

About groups privacy:

Called my attention how I am able to see messages and even media on groups I am not member of.

I suppose it is a group owner setting to allow this or not. But since many people seem to believe groups content is kept only within group members, and are not aware them being public, I would suggest default group creation setting was "hide content to no members" or equivalent.

Yep

And no, it's definitely not a problem on my end.
Although I am using tor, I sometimes get speeds up to 700 KB/s which is enough to get even the rare 200 mb video to load with not issues. So if you are not using tor, you probably should. :D But you also should be getting usable speeds. Unless your vpn is slow if you have one. Or it is also possible that the connection of the server is not entirely stable.

Likely part of the problem is people going overkill with HD for videos that do not need it.

Most videos nowadays are coded with 100Mb per minute this days, so almost 2Mb/s to buffer. That, if you have any bottleneck is just buffering wait for sure.

1000mb/s, NordVPN, Ethernet cable.
Switching VPN servers make no difference. If I try to download any video on ZV it barely gets me 100kb/s.
Anything else I download elsewhere is done in seconds.
Try speedtest.net while you're connected on VPN, if that's okay then the connection between NordVPN and this site is being throttled.
I just tried playing and downloading a video on a different VPN and I'm getting 5mb/s

Ah, I'm going to hazard a guess that the issue is between NordVPN and the host of this site, either the host is limiting speed to Nord to protect against floods, or NordVPN has taken a disliking to ZV but not totally blocked it.
Not much you can do except use a different VPN or Tor, I don't think complaining to Nord will have much luck

It's most likely not an issue relating to one person. It happens with me, and I use PIA. Sometimes I end up on here without it, and occasionally goes go slow on the phone.

For me it seems to be the time of day and how many people are on the forum at one time. I also use NordVPN (for now). During the day a 70mb 3 minute video will buffer every 3 to 5 seconds and takes awhile to download. However at 3am in the morning EST when most of the Americans are asleep the videos will load quickly and download fairly quickly. I wonder if it has to do with the volume of users viewing videos at one given time?

Why doesn't Youtube have this issue?
'Cause they're wired and servered and load-shared for about 14.3 kajillion metric buttloads of terrabytes per second more connectivity than I expect this place could ever dream of being able to afford?

Just a guess...

Why doesn't Youtube have this issue?
Cloud of dedicated servers?
I mean, Idk what the setup is for ZV media servers, but usually you pay for storage + monthly traffic + maximum allowed bandwith, so this ends up being a question of paying fir the resources.

I suppose this would need someone to check the data traffic stadistics serverwise and to review the TOS to verify.

So, I just saw a post in the "last image you saved" thread and it was pornographic (a bit much for my taste but wtfever), and had a question/suggestion. Not sure if it is in the rules, it may already be, but should pornographic images in threads like the be required to have a "spoiler" or nsfw tag? Or should they just not be posted in threads like that?

It should just be kept to a minimum. Last time someone thought it was "post the last vagina pic you saw."

The homepage https://www.zoovilleforum.net/ is completely blank for me now. The response headers are

Code:
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Server: nginx/1.18.0
Date: Wed, 16 Nov 2022 22:51:18 GMT
Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8
Transfer-Encoding: chunked
Connection: keep-alive
Content-Encoding: gzip
X-Cache-Status: HIT

but there doesn't seem to be a message body with HTML transferred. Other pages except the homepage work fine.

I get the same thing. I'm glad it's not just me!!
