a dog will live with you in a carton box if the relationship is there. The breeds I am interested in would bennefit from it, or at least from having outdoor kennel, rather than being locked in a flat for 9-10 hours. Sure, it is doable, but if I would get a dog, I want to have the best possible conditions for him. I'd rather be alone than to worry about me not providing him the best.
i kinda doubt any dog is happy with outdoor kennel... maybe for when you're not home and don't have a doggy door or something. any pack animal is happiest with their pack, not cast aside.
it's what i hate about our lovely country. dogs being kept in the yard with minimal or no access in the house for their whole lives being the norm.
got asked so many times why do i let my caucassian boy in the house, and the reactions when i tell them he sleeps in the bed with me on top of having free roam in the house... "he'd be happy in the garden.". no, he wouldn't. the garden doors are wide open even now in this "fine" weather so he can go wherever he pleases and he still prefers to be crammed under my desk (no idea how he fits there and the desk holds together) with his head on my thigh snoozing away.
