Deep quotes you heard or made up?

"Don't worry Commander. I've generally found that the pre-eminent rule of the universe is that Jean-Luc Picard can handle anything. As long as that's intact, I imagine the laws of physics have very little to be concerned about."

The truth has nothing to fear from investigation or scrutiny.
The truth may have nothing to fear, but sadly in our world the person telling the truth can have a lot to fear; if the person hearing said truth does not want to believe or accept it.

Emperor why are you naked?
What are you talking about? I am wearing the finest new clothes, can you not see. To the dungeon with you for your spurious lies.

"Open your eyes, have you looked at the world in which you live? Don't you dare, it's not about that. I foolishly believed that if I could find a way to travel through time that things would have improved. A utopia would have emerged. But here we are over a century later and things have actually gotten worse! The divide between rich and poor. Hunger and famine. War and violence and hatred. All flourishing beyond control. Indeed men have found new ways to kill each other that were inconceivable in my day, even by fiction writers! This planet needs a rest from what you have done to it! It needs a chance to repair itself. The only way to save this world is by destroying the parasites that are eating it alive!"

Beauty is no quality in things themselves; it exists merely in the mind which contemplates them, and each mind perceives a different beauty.

-David Hume

Perhaps the parasites could all just be sent on a vacation. :gsd_wink:

Any action or inaction no matter how heinous, might be considered justifiable when it is deemed necessary to prevent some future catastrophe.

If a time traveler could go back and make the Titanic avoid that ice berg, all those people would have been saved. But how many more may have died, if the laws and reforms that got introduced into the shipping industry were never brought into being, as a direct result of the sinking?

Oh man, that movie was basically my obsession as a child. I had every single TMNT action figure, including the movie version ones. I was pretty much the coolest kid in the universe.....
Those were when I was a kid. I thought you were in your 50s, that would have put you late teens if not early 20s when those movies were out.

Nope. I'm close to 40 now so I was not even a teenager when they came out. Which gave me years to perfect my Vanilla Ice "Ninja Rap" dance lol

I was like 7 or 8 when the first came out. Still watch the first 2 all the time (pretend the 3rd didn't exist).
What 3rd one?? lol
I was VERY disappointed Bebop and Rocksteady weren't the mutant villains in the 2nd, but came to love Tokka and Razor.
Dam, to be honest I thought YOU were in your 50s too. Guess we're both just way too mature (and here we are talking about Ninja Turtles, high fucking five man)

"The universe doesn't revolve around you, it revolves around me. I'm serious. Look at the evidence. Take food, until I bite into it, it has no taste. Even when I know what I'm gonna say, it never bores me. And here's the clincher. All of the interesting things that have ever happened to me, happened when I was in the room."

One can get in a car to see what man has made, one must get on (in) a horse to see what god has made.
