Indeed, I'm one of the more lucky ones that was able to build enough credit, aquire enough savings, and maintain a reasonably paying job through years and years of effort and hard work to be able to own a home of my own. Well, "own" as it technically belongs to the bank until I finish paying off the mortgage, but I definitely am in no danger of losing it anytime soon.

Although I feel bad for the new wave of youngsters out there now, as hosing prices went from a very ridiculous to absolutely bonkers insane in just a matter of a handful of years.

I caught the final wave of that and got in at the last moment under 3% - I am sort of in the golden handcuffs because I will never see a rate like that ever again. I kinda wish I had chosen something with more of a back yard but I do have a dog part and it is pretty walkable.

Almost the same here, although mine sits a little above 3%. I'm sure prices will eventually go down again. In fact the prices now are artificially high as it should be steeply declining, and should have been doing so since late 2022. But thanks to "ghost houses" and private investment firms, it's going to be a little while before that bubble finally does pop. That, and the boomers are dying off in droves, although many of their houses are getting passed down to the next of kin or the next of the next of kin.

Its just nice to have squeezed into a house and squeezed into a car. I see many many of my friends and peers and they are struggling. I do feel a healthy amount of guilt over the advantages I have that others have definitely not been afforded. I think about the crazy directions my life has taken and no doubt the many more to follow. Dare to dream, dare to explore.

Yeah, a lot of my friends are either still living at home, or they're struggling to survive living with working roommates or working girlfriends/boyfriends in a $1,100 a month 1 bedroom 400sqft apartment.

But I knew what had to be done to be able to have canines mates of my very own, and what I had to do was work work work school school school save save save for pretty much every penny I have. But once I got to the point I needed to be, I jumped at the first opportunity. I am lucky that my parents didn't kick me out of the house as soon as I turned 18, that definitely helped a whole lot, even if I had to pay a bit of rent towards the end.

I will say that many that are still living at home now don't have a lot of motivational drive. Pretty much since young childhood to young adulthood I had it drilled into my head that if I don't work my ass off, I'm going to be living in a cardboard box eventually. The joys of growing up poor.

But yeah, things now are kinda fucked for the younger generation in general. Hopefully this'll eventually change, but probably not anytime soon. Ain't much we can do about it, as the politicians are only out to serve those that line their pockets.

I understand that. Lately I have had a little crisis of confidence in my effectiveness in my role as well as temptations to take my foot off the gas.

I feel bad because years ago I would have killed for this job and now it feels kinda bleak sometimes. I keep telling myself “you did this turn around in 4 years what can you do in 8”. It’s the dark times that make the good times worth it. Despite how dark this sounds I am super fortunate to have what I have and my heart goes out to those who don’t have enough who are struggling. Sometimes you realize that things like loneliness or confidence affect those at all levels in life. It can take a lot to admit that sometimes.

I just got done taking a nap not too long ago, and right now I'm just sitting in front of the mock fireplace heater toasting myself up from the post nap chills. I was luckily able to whip my schedule back in place.

Hopefully you're able to find some R&R soon, and hopefully you're able to correct your sleep schedule soon as well.
