A 1940s Champagne....Apparently, the German Army people didnt believe the French, who told them most of the marketable sugar was gone, so the Champagnes in the Caves in Rheims were worthless. They tried drinking it anyway....Poor lads were VERY disappointed ...but the Cellars had a solid base of wines for sale just after the War Ended in 1945Vintage Champagne Advertisement Matte Vertical Poster, Parisian Lady Wall Art, 1940's Retro De...jpg

Nash has been a favorite for more than mmmmph years....And this and one of WH Auden's limericks are two of the more brilliant works of poetry in less than a hundred words.

Ill put the Auden one up if there's an interest
Have you ever read Spike Milligan's "Small Dreams of a Scorpion"? I was read some of his things when I was young. I know he was a seminal comedian, but he was also a depressive, and he wrote some very short, sharp poems...

"There are holes in the sky, where the rain gets in. But they're ever so small, that's why rain is thin."

There are other, quite visceral poems of his. I recommend anyone to go read them.
