It didn't completely blowup or anything but it swelled so much all at once the screen is now loose and the rear cover won't go on completely, so garbage time for it.

Poor thing had a hard life, dropped it repeatedly, left in strange and unexpected places and last but certainly not least peed on at close range by a mare
I think I've only ever had one phone that the battery ended up expanding on me a bit. I was an old LG flip phone from like 2007? 2008?. My brother also had one of those "dumb phone" touchscreen phones from around circa 2010 that the battery swelled up on, but much more severely than mine, the back cover wouldn't close anymore. It too was an LG phone.

Looked like it missed a big part

I think that when people take it with them to a bathroom "break" they get so cought up in it that they jerk the phone hand instead, shaking it too much and it blows.
