Is a VPN enough

Every VPN does, they don't have a choice when law enforcement asks them they have to give. It depends on what you are doing but I doubt they will just for zoo porn which you can even google

Your IP can not be blocked it is the digital equivalent of your street address, cant deliver the mail if you don't know where its going. They are really just masking your IP by sending it through a proxy server. The only real security they provide is point to point encryption from user to their servers, this works fine for IP spoofing Netflix or connecting to unsecured access points. IP logging is not the problem, your internet provider does it too it's just harder for the cops to get it from them. Its the user account with your name, email address, credit card numbers, and address, along with your IP all saved on an unencrypted 3rd party server that links everything together and back to you. These are only VPN's by definition, a true VPN will hide your IP address by splitting up data packets and routing them through multiple nodes using rotating IP's in a true virtual environment, nothing is saved everything gets deleted as soon as it expires. This alone makes it very difficult to track activity or intercept useful/incriminating data, add end to end encryption difficult becomes impossible.

If the FBI and the VPN provider knows all the servers more will not save you, you need a VPN that can not store logs for a long time so even if FBI asks them they can't give them it. The downside is support is terrible for long problems but no FBI can force them to keep logs.

Not the case for VPN's that don't operate in the US. Like ProtonVPN for example they run their servers through other countries for US people. But I wouldn't trust them either cuz we all know, money is power. You shouldn't take the risk if you live somewhere where even watching is illegal. Its better to make your own VPN server for that.

Am I doing it right or is there an alternative way to do things. I've already been caught by authorities once and would rather it not happen again since I got off lightly the first time.

Same, waiting to see what's going to happen, 1st time. Got a knock on the door at 8 in the morning. Google reported it, lesson learned. I keep content off site now, use tel and yandex disc.

It's a long story which I wont bore you with, summary of it is I'd had a massive issue with my mobile being hacked, it had gone on for over a year, real life nightmare. Anyway, I was finding content deep in my files I knew nothing about, which led me to sites I'd never heard of. Why anyone would go to this trouble I don't know but they did. I found a photo which when I examined the detail was shared with 8 others! Titled ' nonce' ironic as they'd loaded it. That started me on a path to download animal content, incest and anything else to attempt to pull them out the shadows and get a reaction. Trust me, this is the short answer. I spend a night with them on my mobile fighting over access to my email account. They switched the language to Arabic so I couldn't do anything ?
 
And that happened while using a vpn or tor or just your regular connection?

Hmmm, I honestly can't remember now, I made the mistake of going onto my yandex disc via the web rather than app, so when I downloaded it did it via Google. I ended up so invested into finding out who and why, all common sense flew out the window
 
I do not understand how google could have access to your files on yandex. Did you download any of the porn to your google drive or something like that?

I genuinely can't remember now, and it is what it is. It gave me some closer to stop chasing shadows. I'd became obsessed I wouldn't let them win. Fortunately I have a witness to what happened to drive me to it, as I said, I could spend a night on here telling you everything that went on. Crazy
