A milf, or MILF, (mother I like to fuck) is a woman that is a mother and the one seeing her would like to have sex with her. She can be of any ages.

A cougar is a woman above the age of 40 that have a sexual interest in men atleast a decade younger than her (but most oftenly guys in their 20s), she can and can not be a mother, having offspring have nothing to do with cougarhood.

All available evidence would suggest that during the first half of their life, women prefers men that are a little older than them.

If you want to go down that rabbit hole, strong evolutionary reasons for that exists.

Back in the day, our social groups were not too different from that of other primates.
Leftovers of this is very apparent in online dating where the most attractive (both physically and mentally) guys get's the most attention from the opposite sex.
Males did not have social status enough to mate until they got a little older, but more or less all females did mate. An older male would be more able to provide for the offspring while the younger would likely get a beating for hitting on a female an older male was interested in.
So, for the majority of our species existence, the males were older than the females when forming couples. Something occuring for hundreds of thousands of years does not vanish from our subconscious after some decades of social liberation, and much of how we act today can be traced back to something having a positive impact if a similar thing happened during the stone age (an age lasting roughly 300 thousand years)

Naming a few of the most simple ones:
Do you feel more calm sitting by an open fire?
Do you laugh after you have gotten scared by something?
Do you feel an adrenaline rush during an argument?
Do you feel more confident around shorter unknown men and less confident around taller unknown men?
Do you feel inclined to help people you see in need, even if you don't know them?
