Sounds familiar. I think I used to visit a scalie site. It could have been this one.
herpy.net is notable as having been owned by the same person who created and owns e621 (their username is Varka).
also, herpy.net is the site where the BadDragon company was first premiered and made public.
sad that its not around anymore though. i was introduced to a lot of good artists back there.
herpy.nu tried to replace it, but it doesnt have the same feel at all.

ive had several of my favorite artists nuke their galleries in the past.
there was murcat, who deleted her art and moved her account to pastelcore.
then jazzlioness, who deleted her art and moved her account to lynxbrush.
then herraardy, who deleted her art, closed her merchandise, and then vanished from the face of the net (mid comic by the way).
questly and maim have also nuked their galleries.
and finally blitzdrachin/sifyro, who repeatedly nukes her own gallery like once every 6 months or something.

ive never really gotten "caught" in the traditional sense.

once, when i was pretty young, i was looking at sexual art. not of humans, of course, i didnt even consider that back then lol. but somewhere along the line, i accidentally got a virus on the device that would make so many advertisments pop up that the thing was dang near unusable. additionally, the advertisements were all for sex and porn (human porn though). worst part, it was my grandmother's device. however, to my extreme luck, the virus hit the thing so bad that one day it just shut down and would not turn on. so she never saw what i had really done to it. my grandfather was going to work on it to try to make it turn on again, but my father-in-law happened to be around, and he offered to give it a go (and thank heavens he was there and did that). so my father-in-law managed to get the device going again, and he saw what i had done. he saw the porn ads and he thought he understood. luckily, he was a cool guy, he empathized with me, and said he used to look up the same stuff when he was my age on his own mothers' computer. he covered for me, told my grandparents nothing could be done for the device, and to forget the whole issue.

but he was mistaken. he saw the ads for human porn and sex, and thought they came from browsing normie porn. he had no idea that the porn i was looking up was of a completely different nature lol. and it never came up again to this day
