How do I post a picture of my sweet little kitty that passed in October? It asks me for a link and the picture is on my phone.

The easiest way is to use the "Attach files" button to attach the picture directly. The link image embedding is meant for images which are on web servers, not on your phone directly.

Be careful as to what metadata your picture file includes. There's the possibility that it saves very precise data about your phone or the camera, including exact GPS data, this means the exact location.

If you want to upload it, clear its meta data / EXIF data completely, this might need a tool, but I am not progressing images on a phone, as such I can't help you in this regards unfortunately.

After it is uploaded - if there are GPS data embedded - everyone who views it can basically see the exact position of the location where it was shot, as such it is highly dangerous to leave such embedded.

You want to use it as your profile avatar photo?
It might be that the avatar size and / or resolution is limited or your file format is not directly compatible.

Edit: If you want me to - and trust me in this regards - adjust the image so you can directly use it as avatar photo, just PM me with the image, I can do that for you and as well remove the EXIF data. But if you don't trust me, that's fully fine. It's just an offer and I can fully understand if someone wouldn't trust someone out of the blue.

Ah, and here are the related hints regarding the removal - you should be able to do this yourself as well, if you want:
