I'd like to get a big long furred breed like a malamute. I'm pretty active in both summer and winter so I would have to watch out for heat stroke in the summer months.

I like malamutes for sure, they're gorgeous and friendly. The only issue with them is something that most Spitz breed dogs suffer from, same sex aggression. Every zoo I've talked to that has or had two female Spitz breeds has had to deal with them fighting with each other, sometimes often. But they're fine with the opposite sex. But since I don't plan on getting males, it makes it a bit of an issue for me.

I don't know if I would own multiple dogs at a time. Would be beneficial for them to have a companion when I'm not there but the sex agression is definitely something to keep in mind.
