Which breed to choose ?

Regarding beagles, somewhere else on the forum a member said that they are well endowed for their body size. Then, some time in the last 2 years I saw a homemade vid with a woman in her bedroom getting mounted by a smallish dog that looked a bit beagle-like. His hair might have been a bit longer, but his coloring and size were like a beagle. It wasn't a high res vid. It was filmed from across the room, like as if she'd set up her phone on something way back away from herself.

If anyone is trying to figure out this vid, she seemed to be over 40 years of age. She and her dog were definitely not newbies. He knew exactly what she wanted, and how they would do it, and she knew exactly how to place herself for him. They looked to be long term lovers with a ton of experience doing exactly what they did. She and him walked from the edge of the bed a few feet out from it to an open area in her room. He was looking up at her and paying close attention, and knew exactly what time it was.

Anyway, he did stay lodged in her for 30 seconds to a minute. She was facing away from the camera. So, there was not a side view of his bits, at all. Smaller dogs sometimes seem to hump longer, like closer to 40 seconds of humping instead of 18 to 20 seconds, like some Danes.

Take into consideration the home alone aspect for 6-8 hours. Shepherds are wonderful breeds but the lack of attention/exercise can cause them to be destructive. This is for many breeds but Shepherds have a neurotic side to them, not nearly as bad as a dog like a husky or malinos. But just something to watch for.

Well, I just googled Best Big Dog Breeds For Apartment Living and it suggests Great Danes or the English Mastiff. They don't needs much space or exercise(as adults) and are really good with kids. And their both suited for what you're looking for in a companion.
 
I could help more given more knowledge but from what I've read I'd say the lab is a better fit. I'm also slightly biased since a lot of people by me have very poorly trained german shepards( my pup has been attacked twice on walks and I was even attacked as a child). Labs are much more easy going. They aren't as stubborn so they're easier to train. They will likely have hip problems down the road but german shepherds are the same. The require slightly less exercise for the days you just can't. But they were originally a working breed(still are) so the days you want them to go all day they'll be able to. There's a reason labs are the second most popular breed in the USA
 
My husband believes it depends on the women. Three bigger the dog the better in his viewpoint. I can't complain they have taken great care of me.
 
In my case, the size of the dog depends on the living conditions, small apartment and a child.
 
If you read the entire thread, you will understand that the topic is not simple. Apart from organizational problems, choosing a dog is a serious decision, it is a new member of the family for the next 10-15 years. As I wrote, I want to close it this year.

rothweiler are great !!! the one i played with was just perfect doggy style :p
 
You will probably get two pieces of information here: that it can be hidden from your child and that you cannot hide it from your child. Both have their supporters and opponents. My dog (Jack Russell) came to my house when my daughter was 13 years old. I implemented all the advice I got from people here on how to train a dog to hide it. Despite sincere intentions, it didn't work out. There are so many variables in everyday life that you cannot predict everything and teach your dog everything.
 
You probably want too look at the general necessities of the dog, like space, activity levels, energy, etc, like always, don’t get a husky if you ain't ready. Or work dogs just cause they look cool

I think I know what you mean, it's true that opinions are strongly divided.
