Apple for the design Android for usage.
Android always. Bought my daughter an iPhone one year for Christmas and wanted to download a custom ring tone. Took 2 hours (set up an apple account on my PC, upload the sound file then wait until the iPhone recognized the new account, then download the file from the app store, which would've only taken a minute on my LGV60 uploading it directly to my phone. Apple is too proprietary and engineering them to only last a short time so you spend a fortune every couple of years. No thanks. Not sure which brand I'll go with next, but LG was the most ingenuitive.

This thread makes it a lot easier for the badguys™ to figure out the right spy app to infect you with. Apple spyware doesn't work good on an android phone and vice versa. I'm honestly shocked how many people answer questions like this here and with so much detail. Admittedly I myself have also divulged information but so many threads on here stink of that "we're trying to figure out your password reset prompts" like what would be your stripper name if it was your home address and social security number? Going back through threads here wouldn't even require that zoo detecting AI to start pinpointing from accrued information collected over hundreds or thousands of posts.

I like how optimised Apple devices tend to be, but the extra freedom from Android is a big selling point for me

Android for sure, was on Iphone for years, its a hard move to make, but solved all the downfalls of the iPhone and I would never go back for any reason.
I have a really nifty Kyocera flip-phone, it makes telephone calls, texts, and even takes pictures... ??
