I just picked up Grim Dawn in the Steam Summer Sale and I'm addicted ?
How is that one? I've never played any of the FF games before but I've been meaning to. Do you think 7 is a good one to start with?FF7 Rebirth
No. Original VII is the most overrated one, and the remake will just confuse the hell out of you thanks to multi-timeline crap induced by 20 years of sequels and prequels that already confused and retconned the hell out of the original.Do you think 7 is a good one to start with?
Damn I had a feeling it would be like that considering how many there are. Reminds me of how the Metal Gear games are. Those are fucking confusing. They're fun, sure, but most of the time I don't know what's going on lolNo. Original VII is the most overrated one, and the remake will just confuse the hell out of you thanks to multi-timeline crap induced by 20 years of sequels and prequels that already confused and retconned the hell out of the original.
The big thing with the remake is that parts of it are different from the original, and when a major event plays out differently "whispers" show up and get in the way. They're not explained yet, but the general theory is that they're the planet (which is established as sentient in the original) intervening to attempt to maintain the timeline as best possible.Damn I had a feeling it would be like that considering how many there are. I've never heard of a game doing something like that. Creative, I guess, but sort of "punishing" people for not knowing the correct storyline seems a bit much. Well if/ when I do begin the series I guess I'll start from the beginning. The big thing with the remake is that parts of it are different from the original, and when a major event plays out differently "whispers" show up and get in the way. It's more punishing people for knowing the original, by changing it but throwing in an in universe "justification" for the differences, "things are playing out other than they should, so there's this mystical force trying to keep things on track". All while further confusing those who don't know the original with these unexplained ghosts popping up.I've never heard of a game doing something like that. Part of me is actually wanting that lol just sounds like a fever dream. Honestly, it would be nice having a storyline to follow but it sounds like that's almost impossible with that game no matter what. It's more punishing people for knowing the original, by changing it but throwing in an in universe "justification" for the differences, "things are playing out other than they should, so there's this mystical force trying to keep things on track". Plus they turned it into 3 games instead of 1, all so they could milk even more money out of a 27 year old game.
