I was raised Catholic, and ran QUICKLY from that when I turned 18. Catholicism, Christianity (and other religions) can instill so much shame, guilt, and self loathing in people. It’s sad. Rather than learning to rejoice in our sexuality, we’re taught that anything outside of: doors closed, lights out, missionary position with your opposite sex spouse after wedlock is bad and wrong. I revel in being zoo, and loving my animals. Certainly NOT the good Catholic boy my parents dreamed I’d be. 😜
Reading this post got me fantasizing a kinky scenario where zoo lovers are deep in animal pussy while practicing their catholic duties, combining both worlds 😈

Pagan: I worship the old gods of the natural world. I am particularly devoted to The Horned Gods: Cernunnos and Pan, but I pay homage to all the gods. I am an animal of the Human species. I embrace and indulge my base animal instincts and desires. "Do what thou wilt but harm none. Is the whole of the moral law."

I grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania. My parents and grandparents on both sides were very strict Christian Fundamentalists. The "Church", all of my family attended, was not part of any normal Christian denomination. They were pretty much an extremist doomsday cult. We weren't allowed to have friends outside of the church members, and we weren't allowed to watch TV or listen to music on the radio. We didn't just attend Sunday school and worship service on Sunday mornings. Sunday Evening Praise Service, Wednesday Evening Bible Study, and Saturday Afternoon Youth Meetings were all also required. We were constantly indoctrinated that Jesus was coming soon to destroy the World, and cast all sinners into the Lake of Fire. But, of course "the Elect" would be taken up to Heaven in "The Rapture".

I realized I was gay in High School (1978-1982), but I was not in a safe time or place to come out of the closet. If my Dad had found out I would most likely have been beaten to death. My parents were even actively arranging for me to be married to a girl I grew up with in the church, so I had to escape. The day after I graduated, I joined the US Navy for an extended six year tour or duty. I left for boot-camp just a few days later. I discovered Paganism while serving at sea, and I had very little contact with anyone in my family until the 1990s when my parents died.

I’m a henothiestic pagan. I believe the gods of all people are true in some way, nothing is supreme, just a cosmic drama we’re all part of. I believe there are pockets of order that we and the gods create, but that the universe as a whole is chaos and to chaos all order will eventually return. It’s helped me make sense of the incredible good and bad of the world.

Well said! I'm a primitive and eclectic pagan. My path has been finding harmony and peace in living close to the natural world.
