What chat app do people use?

I used to have WickMe never used it but it was purchased by Amazon, recently so I deleted it. Since visiting this site i have researched on line just for curiosity and Signal appears by what I have read to be the best, although it requires your phone number. I find that a bit of a catch 22, but if all your content is encrypted and unobtainable it is probably a non issue. I haven't loaded any thing yet and may not. If you intended to use a program I'd suggest some due diligence before you choose one.

To anyone this happens to, I would strongly reccomend blocking those assholes immediately without ever responding to them, and, if the accounts are even remotely close to whatever they use here, block the cocksuckers here too. And, report them to site staff if conduct merits a Mod.

TO the ASSHOLES who do shit like this: YOU ARE THE REASON WOMEN AREN'T HERE IN BIGGER NUMBERS, DO THE WORLD A FAVOR AND FUCK OFF.

You can't hide it from telegram. The faceless corporation looking to mine whatever they can out of you for "allowing" you to use their "free" services.

People seriously need to learn not to willingly hand over personal information to giant corporations. Corporations aten't good and benevolent entities. Them having your information is worse than the "hackers" you think it's "secure" from by hiding it.
 
Telegram is alright, you just need to avoid groups that let anyone join since those will eventually get shut down. Also make sure your privacy settings are set to "Nobody" especially the phone number.

This will not in any way prevent telegram admin from aquiring your phone number to report to authorities. You can not, in any way, use a number that traces back to you. So many people talk about tor and onion and vpn yet they fuck up this simple task.

I don't believe I've ever heard of TG doing that, but you could always use a throwaway number... still keep it hidden, though. Or try your luck with other chat apps. It's all about evaluating risks, and you have to weigh the pros and cons of each communication platform to find what is right for you.
