I've been trying to compile my own thoughts into a comprehensive post for this thread during work today, and have been having issues trying to add anything substantial to what Rak said before.

For me, beyond just loving the feeling and connection with the beast that I let take me, it really let's me feel comfortable with myself in a sense. To let myself just let go and enjoy the bliss of the experience.

I agree, @raks hit the nail on the head pretty solidly. I cannot express my love for your statement in the feeling of letting yourself go when it comes to being with a male dog. The excitement, thrill, the love scratches, and that feeling of being completely lost in yourself as you enjoy what really makes you happy. I would have to disagree on the consent piece for female animals, while I do not fancy that aspect of zoo I have time and again seen my female dog show interest in being mounted before she got too old. I think animals know when you are down to have sex and they reciprocate back very directly in my experience. I've never considered myself gay. I barely considered my self bi. I just know I like phallus of any variety, even if it's attached to another man.
