The breeder dilemma

Pretty much, yes. Damn breed variability huh?

Not saying they're faked just not a realistic basis for expectations. You only ever see the bitches that are successful in taking human cocks in porn videos, not the ones that can't or won't...or what was required to get that dick in there.

I have some news.

I found someone who is a breeder out east and we've been in contact via email. She tells me her bitch is due in 30 days and that pups can leave after 8 weeks of age. Though personally, I think they should wait till 12 weeks for socialization with littermates.

She sent me info on the process.
Ok my Female is due in 30 days, pups will not be able to leave until 8 weeks,
All pups will be Microchipped, 1st vaccination, wormed, and full health check by my vet at 6 weeks of age. Health booklets are provide by the vet.
Arrangement to transport interstate is at buyers expense, I do ask for a small payment for petrol to deliver the pup safely to the Sydney airport.
I have owned Husky’s for 16 years, I have only breed for 6 years, but I have never had any of my pups nip and bite, they play and do chew, but I have never had any of my pups from any litter do that. If they are brought up with love and kindness, there temperament will shine through.
It’s great that you are doing your homework on the husky breed. Don’t believe most of the things you read,
Husky’s certainly have there own mines, but they are so easily to own, they love being part of a family, they love there owners, they are very loyal and they talk to you. They love exercise, the beach and being included.
They love sleeping a lot.

This is the my beautiful girl, she has been DNA tested by my vet. Because she is tested her pups will costs more.
Pups will not come with papers though.
Transfer of ownership is necessary, which we can email copy to each other with signatures receipts will be given.
Pups must be paid in full before flight.
If your still interested in around 3 months time , I will let you know when they are born and we will go from there.

No red flags so far. So I asked a few questions:
She's very pretty. A beige B&W then? Where does she sit on the breed standard for size? I've read that females range from 16kg to 23kg.
What about the father, do you have any info you can share?

I appreciate the tip about not believing things others say about them. From those who I've told so far that I'm interested in huskies, I've got mostly warnings that I should maybe consider other breeds. Everything from too much hair to noisy to mouthy to possessive/aggressive has been advised. I don't believe any of it. Well, except for the shedding part. That's a given. I have a good robot vacuum so I'm set in the shedding department I figure.

All this is something I'm bracing myself for since reliable sources do say that husky puppies are more challenging than average, but that after a couple months it smooths out.

Oh, also what food do you have them on when they are shipped out? I know it's good to get the same thing they are used to for a while.
She replied quickly:
Mum is a pure Black&white Siberian Husky her DNA report shows me her full history, her weight is around 25kg as she is pregnant and she will get heavy towards the end. Her weight fluctuate between 23-26kg she is a good size female, sorry she was a little dirty after all the rains we have had, but she scrubs up quite pretty.
Dad is also classed as a black&white but he is very light, he is not wolf grey in colour
Also sent me a good photo of both mom and dad.
I asked about the mother's weight to see where she falls in the breed standard, which is fairly variable. I had no idea the low end on the Husky scale is actually LIGHTER than my Saluki, who is 18kg! But apparently she's on the BIG end of the standard. AKC says that female Huskies are between 35-50 pounds. This breeder tells me the mother actually fluctuates between 51 and 57 pounds! And from the photo, she does seem like a big girl.

I suppose this could be considered good news, as long as Dad is not tiny. I only got the photo without stats.

Sounds like this could actually work eh? ^_^

Sorry, a few red flags for me...

I have never had any of my pups nip and bite
I do not believe this for one millisecond unless she has never bred a litter before. Puppies nip and bite!

This is the my beautiful girl, she has been DNA tested by my vet. Because she is tested her pups will costs more.
Umm, DNA testing is like a $175 one off cost and something everyone even considering breeding should be doing, many will even DNA the whole litter as well before placing them. It's standard practice and not a valid reason for her puppies to cost more. Also, is the dog DNA tested or just the bitch? What diseases were they tested for and what was their status (Clear/Carrier/Affected?). Have they been hip/elbow scored and if so what were their scores?

Pups will not come with papers though.
Nope. Just, nope. Walk away. Papers cost the breeder about $50 and depending on which state this breeder is in it can be a breach of their canine control's (Dogs Vic, Dogs NSW etc) code of ethics to fail to register any puppies and I can't stress this enough ANKC registration papers belong to the dog not the breeder, they can't just transfer to you and not supply the papers!

I should add, WA's "anti puppy farmer" (really just anti dog) legislation has I believe been passed. If you want your girl to remain entire you will need to apply for a breeding permit and hope it is approved...
