Of course, there's always the adventure of rolling a seed you didn't notice, and having the damned thing go off like a popcorn kernel partway through the joint - Damn near burned a house down due to one of those. Ker-POP, and the joint blew apart like somebody stuffed a cigarette load in it. Thought it was all over, but we must've missed a bit of the hots, 'cause about 20 minutes later, we're in the kitchen playing euchre, and we started noticing a burning smell. Turned out to be the arm and one of the cushions of the couch smoldering and just about ready to burst into flames. We managed to get it out the front door before it actually went full bonfire mode.

Oh I remember playing euchre, and also hook if you had that game available in your area.

We were partying in my friend's 54, 2door Chevy, cherry with tons of bondo. The back seat caught on fire and the whole car burned up on the raod as everyone watched.

I remember when one of the rich people in our neighborhood actually got a color TV. The whole neighborhood knew about it. I think our TV was like a 16" B&W tube, but the tube was somewhat rectangular

Use to be everyone I knew was older than me, now the tables are turning. When you connect with old friends now, seems the conversation is about "did you know such and such died" I am 68 so still a few years to go.
 
I remember when I was an alter boy and the priest would come back into the vestibule and fondle my balls right before mass .... ah the good ol' days!

I remember when we got our first color TV. Don't remember what size it was. But it was an amazing thing to watch,.
 
I remember my mom's old washing machine. It had a wringer on top of the washer. I was afraid that it could take your hand off. There were no dryers. We had an outside cloths line, and in the winter the cloths would be all frozen. We also carried our water from a spring on the side of the hill.

We had a handy-dandy well, but I remember that washing machine... it *ALWAYS* fucked up the zippers on my jeans! I'd get a new pair of jeans, and within 2 weeks, the tab on the zipper would be bent in half. It'd make me look like I was walking around with a permanent boner!

Those things were called "mangles" for a reason....Ur20z, are you telling us, in those days you DIDN'T have a Perma-Stiffie? Did you get nominated for Sainthood?

At THAT age, one at least shouldn't be perceived as having a perma-boner, whether one does or not! Besides, it made zipping my pants a serious pain in the... Uh... well, in this case, a pain in the dick, unless I put 'em on backwards to make it a pain in the ass...

And yeah, calling 'em a "mangle" was a surprisingly appropriate decision. Mom lost fingernails to it several times when something being run through decided it wanted her fingers/hand as a traveling companion. Might've lost more than just nails if the one we had used the skinnier, punched metal rollers, rather than the super-fat, fairly squishy rubber coated ones.

My brother and I would watch the 3 Stooges, and my dad hated them. Of course there was a whole host of other shows back then too.

But I did watch the Fresh Prince a few times and thought he was funny. I watch America's Funniest Videos at times, and his opposite hosts that show.

26 Men, Northwest Passage ( Buddy Ebsen's 1st series) , Annie Oakley, Yancey Derringer, The Last Of The Mohicans( which featured both the OTHER Lone Ranger and The Wolfman, John Hart and Lon Chaney, jr as Hawkeye and Chingachgook, respectively ) were my first little nibbles into US History.

"26 Men " were the entire Ranger force for Arizona....all the territorial budget could afford.
"Northwest Passage" was about Robert Rogers' Rangers....He wrote the book on Ranging...US Army Rangers still use it.
"Annie Oakley" wasnt much history, but it made some of us more aware of what Girls could do. Miz Oakley was a Hell of a shooter.
"Yancey Derringer" placed in Post-Civil War NOLA was a gamblin' sorta fella, undercover for the Military Governor of the area. Not a lot of history, but some "bind up the wounds" plots...
"TLOTM" back to the Seven Years War again. Fenimore Cooper Authored the First American Novel. Not the best History, but I STILL want a Lancaster County Flintlock Rifle.

Young un lol. I remember when the phone was on the wall with a dial handle and a pick up mike. Cell phones were 25 + years away. We had just converted to a rotary dial phone on the 12 party line. But the old cranker was still hooked up.
 
I remember when our washing machine had a mechanical wringer on top. Mom washed the clothes, opened the machine and put each item through the wringer.
 
I'm still caught off guard when I remember public telephones aren't a thing. I feel like it would be a good safety measure for contacting the authorities, at least.
 
Oh, and there were no zippers on our jeans. All button up. I am not sure when zippers came along, but I remember that the first pair I owned I worried they would come open (age 7 to 10 or so). And everyone wore Levi's until Lee came along with a boot cut.
