Yes, the strap is useful to make the forms more visible.
Anyway this commercial just show a young girl with a seat belt, and afterwards they have pasted the cushion on the photo.
It is surely not two photos. Upwards the cushion is sharp but not the belt, and the folds in her t-shirt is exactly the same.
