My dog just won't mount on me

It's honestly something you're going to have to let him come to on his own by his own fruition. You cannot force a dog to be sexually interested in you and you cannot force a dog to want to have sex outside of sucking/handjobs. Remember, you should never train a dog for sex, as sex is in inherent instinct. Some dogs will never be interested in a human this way, and that's okay. Love him for who he is, not for the fun bits on his lower belly.

Like @aragos32727 mentioned, it might be beneficial to behave like a dog would. (Watching a lot of mating videos will help you learn this language, just make sure it's natural and none of that "being tied to a tree and being forced to breed" crap.) While dogs are good at picking up the meaning behind human body language. Sometimes when it comes to sex, it's best to talk to them using their body language, so that they clearly understand what you want from them, and they can decide if they want it or not.

Depending on his breed, your boy being 8 could also play into this. Many older dogs will slow down as they get older. His hips could be stiff, or even his lower back could be stiff. He just might not have all that much energy anymore and just doesn't wish to put in the work to actually actively engage in sexual intercourse anymore, but is willing to let you give him a bit of pleasure which he's standing and feeling comfortable. Because it's not a lot of work on his end, and it feels good to him.

If he's trained not to jump up on people it's gonna be a challenge getting him past that. What others said about watching dog mating videos & copying the body language of a bitch in heat is good advice
 
Question. Has he ever humped when you jerk him off? If the answer is no he's probably uninterested and you should give up your attempts. If he won't hump your hand odds are he won't mount you. Sorry I know that's probably not the answer your looking for but pay attention to his body language.. If a dog is into it, theyll let you know they are into it. If hes not reacting in a way that expresses his willingness to do anything please quit trying. Respect that he doesnt wanna have sex with you. That's his choice to make, not yours to try and make for him.

OH smells like tension. But as others have said. My boy didn't mount for the longest time. It was mostly because he has been taught for the longest time not to jump on people. But eventually he learned as he got hornier that it could be fun. This was when he was 4 so for your boy it could be a bit more of a challenge. You can only try but don't force it. What breed of dog is he our of curiosity. That could answer a few questions.
 
So ignoring some of the tail end bs, anything else someone might have come up with to help a person in such a situation, with an older puppy that just doesn't seem to want to mount?

Fact. You can try to boost his confidence and help him realize that it's okay but just like people dogs have different personalities and sometimes they're just not into it.
 
I often times suspect the reason some dogs refuse to mount is a issue of respect and fear. In my case all my dogs have come to me second hand. In virtually all of them I never really knew the owner or how they treated the dog before hand. I noticed that dogs that were obviously abused would never mount or show much interest in sex at all. I suspect that they fear or respect humans to much to ever dare try and mount one. I have noticed with dogs I have instilled respect and obedience in them before letting them know that it is ok to hump me.... almost never will after that point.

If you play with a dogs penis and it gets hard and shoots buckets or pre cum. It really means nothing, a dogs penis functions like that normally. The key aspect to pay attention to is how is the dog acting when you are playing with his penis. Does his tail(if he has one) try to go between his legs does his ears and head droop. Does he gets stark still and dosn;t move at all. These are all indications I have found that a dog is simply to submissive to ever have sex with you. Now if a dog does hump wildly when you play with him but wont mount it may indicate that he simply dosn't understand what he can do with you. In those cases getting him up on your back and getting him started will often times give him just the right idea to get your sex life together started. These are not hard and fast rules. just observations I have made in the last 25 years and 50+ different dogs.
 
i would suck my boy all the time hes neutered so that may have been part of it but he never humped or anything until a few years ago and hes 11 now. now if i suck him he usually always facefucks me idk what changed tho

I have a feeling thats likely the case, hes pretty submissive even to other male dogs. Sometimes he does thrust, sometimes not. Sometimes he seems to enjoy, sometimes he doesn't and I stop. Another hindering thing, theres no regularity, could be 1month to 18 between attempts. And now he's blind, so that doesn't build any confidence

I have had a few dogs snap out of that hyper submissiveness. One of my current dogs, Bones. he was in rough shape when I found him sickly malnourished and obviously abused. When ever a new dog shows up here a test to see what kind of animal I am working with is to raise my hand like I may hit them( I never have) Bones would curl up and make him self small as possible a good indicator that he was beaten. I never touched him sexually once he got healthy. But when I would play with the others I would present to him. Eventually I just resigned that mine and his relationship was platonic. However I did keep up building his confidence and one days during a mating session with the others Bones stepped up and took a turn too. He is though one of only a few that have come around.

May I ask why he is blind ? old age injury ?
 
Yea hes approaching 9 or 10, cataracts grew very rapidly over last 2 years ?

Being ive tried over a few years, I doubt there will be a change, but I'll recheck once in a while
