Local Legal Information and Advice

Oasis

Lurker
I'm quite privacy conscious, and I don't ever intend to share my zoo inclinations with any authority figures. But who ever intends to get outed? I feel a bit lost trying to navigate threat modeling when I don't really know what is enforced, or how.

My primary fear is that if I were discovered with a long term non-human partner I couldn't face risking their life. I would really like to get some sort of qualified legal advice in my country, but I am also concerned that 1) they could out me, or retain that information and 2) they might refuse legal services.

Any advice or resources on the topic would be really helpful. I hope one day we can push back against these laws. I know I haven't provided any regional details, all countries very welcome.

In short, it is not legal anywhere. If a country does not have explicit zoophilia laws, it does have animal abuse laws.
And if someone wants to get you, they will find something they can use.

Thanks for linking that thread! I understand that there really aren't juristictions where sexual contact is explicitly legal.

I guess I'm curious about specific penalties and enforcement methods. It's one thing for me to have some penalty, but quite another for me to bring harm to a non-human companion by having them taken from my care or worse. Maybe there is contingency planning I could do to help me feel more secure, like having another potential home negotiated in advance.

What country or state are you in. But don't say anything that would specifically identify you or precisely locate you

I guess mostly it could be on your OPSec. Don't make videos or take pictures. If you do. Make sure nothing that can be recognized is in frame. May be have a dedicated part of a room and have something that's not as unique like some plain cover hanging down. If you have a vet appointment coming up. Don't do anything with your pet the same day. Just go in normal as your everyday self.

Usually only ways people get caught is talking too much. Having something that's easy to identify, or any other tiny dumb mistakes you may think isn't a big deal. If you think neighbors are nosey, make sure you have good curtains covering the entire window, and always make sure its closed up good.

Thank you for the sound advice. OPSec is something I think about constantly at the moment, but I imagine it must be easy to let the routine slip after a while.
