How to bond with your newly adopted pup?

Hello, I’m adopting a 7 year old male dog, and would like to start my relationship with him as well as I possibly can. I hope for us to bond and become best friends and even partners if we really get along well. Should I give him his space once I adopt him, or should I offer treats and lots of attention to show im friendly? Thank you for any help

ignore him first time, u can cuddle when doggo comes to u but otherwise give the doggo time to get used to the new sourrounding

dont push stuff just let time to the thing
