How do you feel about kik?

I think I hate the obsession with them more than I hate the services themselves. "Do you have [...]!?" As if it's some kind of expected obligitory. No! Why the fuck would I?

Precisely! I'm happy to find someone else irritated by that. People are idiots with it. Such a dumbing-down of society.
 
Im actually pretty happy to use them, i use kik and telegram. Handy for sending pictures, organising meetups etc while being more or less anonymous. I Use WhatsApp for personal non zoo stuff.

I heard wickr and signal are better protected, but am yet to try.
 
As someone who grew up with being always online and highly involved with various social outlets online, I can easily say I hate social media, especially being part of things like discord servers, kik groups, etc. I've always been the one on one type and I'd rather just sit in dms with someone to get to know them if I have to be online. In terms of trusting someone with my secret sides to life, I'm so iffy on the idea of that. Especially when it comes to unsecure places like discord, kik, skype, etc. Wickr is alright, I prefer Telegram honestly if I'm going down that route.
Hate to bring it up, but I think these last 6 months have really proven how unsecure places are and how deep these companies watch us :/ just be careful out there.
 
I'd have to feel pretty comfortable with someone on here to give them my Discord or Telegram. I'm open to making a separate account for a more secure chatting app to be able to keep in touch with people outside of ZV, but I haven't had to really consider that thus far. For casual interactions I don't think it's particularly necessary.
 
Well let's face it WhatsApp is not secure but is end to end encrypted meaning all your chats are secure until you do anything illegal like anything else, telegram is the same thing, signal is fearly a new app but I'm pretty sure it'll do the same, there's nothing 100% anonymous if feds wants to get to you they'll do one way or another, for me whatsapp been pretty good since almost everyone uses WhatsApp but telegram is a really good alternative, just create a fake number with a fake pic and you'll be good to go at least you'll be anon to the person you're talking too
 
Normally i would consider to use kik when i chat in private messages for a longer time with someone. But after reading all this here that it's not so safe i have my doubts. I think i will switch to LINE, however that is mostly used in Asia and in Western countries not much used. Anyway i hate it when people ask me after two messages if i will use kik with them or send them pics from me. Another learning point for me i guess. Thanks for all remarks in this topic. Sorry gor my bad English.
 
I try to use telegram for most chatting only just started using wickr recently too.
I have discord, but yea, its not the safest place ....

So Kik is an absolute no. Telegram is good but signal is even better from a security point of view. You are probably safer messaging on Signal than you are here. It also has the obligatory disappearing messages etc.

I avoid social media. I have always been a private person but very open to helping others.

It's alright. I've had one for years and used it to chat with people but the people moved to other platforms so Kik stayed dormant on my phone for a long time. It's glitchy asf and many of the groups that would be of interest to us here ask for pic verification so it's kind of hard to find communities like this there. I've only recently dusted it off again and have been using it to chat in some groups.

Luckily for me I don't use Snap very much. Lolol. I heard Telegram is also not secure. I hear Kik scans messages if that's true. I may get a Wickr but I don't want to have yet another social media account to manage. Lol.

The problem for many people with Telegram is the need to provide a phone number but there are ways around this. Telegram is very secure compared to Kik, whatsapp etc but Signal is currently the most secure & works very well.

True. I have signal to keep in touch with friends. Telegram can be a problem with people who are keyboard warriors that are reporting groups that are like this site though.
 
As far as I'm aware (update: may be wrong here, happy to be corrected) Telegram doesn't do End to End Encryption by default, you need to open a separate private channel with the person you want to chat with. And by my experience, it's a bit cumbersome and some people don't even know about that.

Nowadays I prefer Signal - though it requires a phone number - and wickr for this purpose. Whatsapp, kik, discord are absolutely no-gos for me.
 
i use kik or snapchat, not opposed to other apps, if we're both online at t he same time the site is fine but to have a conversation easier to do it from the phone
 
im fine with it tbh
as long as im already on the app, but im not gonna get something new just to chat with 1 person lmao
 
I tried Kik for a while, totally didn't like the confessions i got there with some people.
