How do you feel about kik?

I've enjoyed conversation with some here but usually fairly quickly they ask me to take it to kik and it makes me so uncomfortable. Like I feel like that's a step that shouldn't be taken lightly. I rather chat here for awhile and see how we get along ect first for like some months lol. How does everyone else feel when people ask if you can message somewhere else?
 
I do this a lot, easier to share pics and exchange messages (no face pics mind you).

Only danger there, don't share personal details like phone number or home address etc
 
to me the sites a bit frustrating, most are so leary, they hardly even want to talk in PMs.....the sites like a tease.....see me on here, what talk to me?, no way fella....I feel there's a degree of safety , there's stalking laws, and someone can be found, (if harassing someone), pretty easily, and reported, or blocked from a phone.Sure there are nut cases out there, here, but when someone puts themself out "anywhere" which we have to a little, it's a risk...I've had to block women that were threatening me.....just go on my phone service website and bam, no more problems.....And i guess we still have some degree of freedom to chat about anything......as the poster above said, NO face pics, i feel safe.......I have some very interesting things, experiences to chat about....but if someone doesn't give me the chance, how do they know....my attitude anymore.........just another day.....if i find someone interesting fine, if not......fine.........it keeps me from becoming frustrated with society, in general......we've all had good/ bad experiences in relationships.......it's just life.....go with the flow......keep things light......
 
I've never messed with kik. Which is just as well, because I already know my chances of ever finding a companion either on this site or on any other site: zero.
 
I can't speak for others but if I feel that I trust you enough to give you my kick or telegram info then it means I wish to get to know you more. If you don't want to move that direction then say so. No harm in that
 
Kik is unencrypted so unsecure, and moderates content using AI including video, photos and even messages. They even have a dedicated website for Law Enforcement.
Telegram seems to be the go to app and is privacy orientated, personally I recommend getting a preloaded sim as you need a phone number to create an account, and make sure you don't allow access to your contacts.

It was a user that outed people on a group that began sharing child porn, not Telegram itself.

One thing IS mentioned openly is that encryption is off by default (unless you choose "Secret Chat"). Signal is encrypted all the time.

Like anything,understanding how it works is key to getting what you want out of it :cool:
 
I used to have kik, but its a major bot infested sausage fest nowadays. Proper groups are hard to find, and its usually full of thirsty guys. If anyone knows a good alternative for kik (where you can also search for groups for instance) I'd gladly hear!
 
Unless you're using your real name or photo on kik I don't see why it would be a problem, it's no more or less anonymous than chatting on this website

I normally don't mind, but it depends on what platform they're asking you to switch to. Personally I don't really like Kik so my default response would be 'Thank you, next!'. Also wouldn't trust if they ask to text me on my personal number, at least until I've gotten to know them for a while. But really I prefer to just chat on the group where we 'met'. Just me though...
 
Have met a few nice people on kik even to talk to about this kinda stuff no personal details exchange just friendly chat with a stranger with similar interests not alway u get a reply on here with everyone in different timezones
