In this case, the metadata might actually protect the good guy. If she was a minor at the time, she has a strong case, and besides, the DA is an attorney paid for by the taxpayer, not just a cop. If the bully in question is using a video of a minor portraying that minor in a sexual situation, the law is on @depressedbee's side.
It might be a lesson to the DA about how unnecessary laws actually make it harder for victims to report serious crimes.

That said, I am MOSTLY on the side of lying low and keeping open communication with less toxic people. These dumb adolescent scandals usually blow over pretty fast. Employers are usually too busy trying to keep their businesses open to worry about what someone said about somebody else. If they have a solid employee that shows up on time and does good work, then that is what matters more almost anywhere besides Washington politics and Hollywood.
I think the best thing the zooey community could do, at this point, is to keep working on trying to destigmatize zoo sex, so if this ever did come up later on in her life thirty years from now, it could not be used against her when she was running for political office herself. While these phony baloney scandals mean nothing in most careers, Washington politics can often be a lot like middle school on steroids. Even if she's interested in that, it's probably at least thirty years down the line.

Would a video filmed on snapchat have metadata? I dont have the original video, After I sent it i deleted it. So im not sure if it would work

if you can download it I THINK you can metadata it its just a file after all thats my theory. if your pressured (kinda forced) into it. the problem will go back onto her end of things. @depressedbee i hope my (somewhat) advice is helping you.

You need to understand how digital devices work. When you delete something, all that actually happens is that it changes the marker on the location of the data from "occupied" to "available". A modern file system will actually not overwrite for a while in case you change your mind and want to restore it. In other words, it's still on your device. Think about that before you go to the DA.

On another note. Don't stress it too hard. Back when I was in college we had an anonymous posting board in the dorm. 77% of all the stuff people were admitting anonymously was incest and beastiality. I've straight up told people more exact girls I was into chicks getting kinky with animals. They didn't care. One even said she wanted to try it. Not saying people won't look at you weird. And jab a comment or two at you if they ever found out.But generally speaking most people really won't care. Everybody has skeletons in their closet. Even the DA. Stay off social media though. Prevention is better than finding solutions. My name and face isn't anywhere on the web. Nor do I have tattoos of anything. Makes things easier.

If you can get that metadata at all, if you were a minor, it would legally protect you, and it would give you grounds to go straight to the DA and say that someone is distributing porn of an underage girl, assuming you had to act fast in order to protect yourself.
Here is how you maybe can avoid having to act fast, though: the best thing to do is start building up any positive interactions at all with anybody that has heard of this but still wants to be civil. Movies, games, local affairs, food, anything. This is to both protect yourself emotionally and to build up your friendships with potential allies. That is the safest bet. Most likely, if you do not escalate, these punks will lose interest soon and go bother someone else.
But if it is possible to get that metadata, that could help you prove to your parents that you were a child at the time it happened and not really legally accountable, assuming you ever had to. Having that information on your side is a shield for you. It is valuable in your situation.
Worst case scenario, you might have to go to your district attorney to report underage porn to stop people from spreading that video anymore. If people keep on circulating it, and it leaks to your parents, you might have no other choice. Having that metadata would help you to successfully make that accusation and get the DA to take the case. The DA might just have an expert go find it, but if you could take the metadata straight to your DA's office, things would probably go faster.
Not escalating is how you avoid having to do that. It's a lot of trouble to mess around with attorneys. It's great to know you can do that if you have to, but any further negative interaction with these creeps just puts you closer to having to, which is a headache. Courts are migraine factories. If you avoid any other negative interactions at all, these fools will probably find someone else to annoy in a few weeks. If that doesn't work, you might have to go to the DA.
If you do have to go to the DA, you are legally and morally justified because those people are distributing kiddie porn, and you should not feel sorry for them if this gets them in trouble. Don't warn them. Don't threaten them. Put the matter in the hands of the DA, and wash your hands. If they get in trouble for distributing kiddie porn, that is not your fault. While it would be better for everybody if they lost interest eventually, if they don't have enough brains, that is not your problem.
It is better to distract yourself with positive people until it blows over. Positive people are ones that distract you from negative people, so at the end of the day, you don't have time for negative people. If you can train yourself to keep pouring positive energy into the positive people in your life, you can make this into a habit, and eighty years from now, you will be rolling around in a nursing home saying "I'm sure glad I listened to Sigma in 2020" because it will serve you the rest of your life. It is a life skill that will make you rich.

So how is your situation so far?
