I love both, Females only though, I grew up in rodeo, roping, team penning, and did the occasional cattle drive, most riders don't notice it I think, but horses given the chance and incentive will bond with their owners, but only if you treat them right, reward and fuss over them when they do good, and spend time with and around them not just when your riding them. One of mine is so well connected due to this treatment since he was born, that he will literally follow me around the property while im working on fences, or whatever, no rope, no lead, inside or outside the fence, i allow him out, and ive even draped a tool belt over his back and let him just follow me around with them on his back with a little bag of treats always at hand. he acts like my little kid, and is always curious what im doing. Never had an issue once with him wandering off on me, he will just stand at my side watching what im doing, and eating grass, if i walk off, after a moment he follows. I'm not active in any way towards him, but i still treat him the same as if i was. All my creatures are special to me.
For zoo related activity, my preference is canine, but pony mares are a close second, I actually have a 1 year old wolf dog hybrid I hope to try with when she gets older. I was quite active years ago, but sadly they don't have the same longevity as do we. I have outlived 2 amazing pups, and one very special mare so far. I say quite active, because all 3 of them were at the same time period. Sometimes at night my drive would be kicking in the afterburners, and I would visit all three of them before the sun came up. Talk about getting busy....
