The only time I'd kill bees is if they get in my house, or if they're carpenter bees which burrow into the wood of your house. In fact, the reason I bought wasp poison was just in case some carpenter bees got the idea to use my porches and their home. Both my parents have gotten them, plenty of times, but thus far I haven't... yet.

Those carpenter bees are no joke. If allowed to fester, they'll ruin the structural integrity of your wooden porch. It's best to kill them as soon as you notice the 1 cm diameter hole.
