Unfortunately very much so. 70s sound simulacra was all the rage from about 2008-2018. About the only one I didn't hate was Greta Van Fleet... even though they're very much a copycat.

I guess that depends as well. Something I've noticed more recently is the "Napalm records" sound as well. It's kind of hard to describe in words, but a lot of newer metal bands are all following the exact same formula and sound with their music. And... kudos for Napalm Records for keeping metal alive in a time of corporate pop and hip-hop, but many of the newer metal bands are also following a "corporate sound" as well.

So many newer metal bands are following this exact same formula. Which makes listening to multiple songs from various different artists sound like you're listening to one continuous song.

Indeed. Where has the uniqueness gone these days? Although I have found some newer metal bands that have some songs that stand out as well. But so many of them are following the same path.
