Water is corrosive and often leave deposits. What I'd do is attempt to clean it with a dry tooth brush. There's a good chance that hard water is blocking the circuit that goes to your number 1 key.

I guess I'm just weird like that. Hell I even tried to fix a cheap USB fan with an old mini motor I had salvaged out of an old broken PlayStation 2 controller from years ago. It would have fit, but the vibrating moon half piece would not come off of the motor. I figured, if I would have fixed it, it would have saved me the trouble of buying a new fan. Even if it would have cost me like $5 at most. Lol
