Okay, that got me rolling! American water is drinkable, just "hard" meaning full of minerals. It's safe to drink, but tastes... well... quite meh.

We get our water from a private well. It has a lot of iron in it so that's the taste I grew up with. One of my cousins hated our water before we installed our latest filter.

That too. My parents had to get water from my grandparents when we were kids because of it, to prevent tooth deformations/discolorations (or whatever happens when you get too much of it).
