Don't have to be rich, just being in the right place at the right time, (before oil/gas discovery around here and buying before land prices went from $1,000/acre to $10,000/acre) for us. 20 acres before land prices went nuts was the best thing to happen to us. We got a 3000sq ft house on 20 acres for less than the price for just the land today.People must be hella rich to have that much land. I just have my apartment.
Location plays a big part, too. What land goes for here in nowhere makes where I've been looking in Florida look terrifying. 20 acres like I have now would be well over a million 10-20 miles from Daytona Beach. Closer to the beach would be tens of millions.
