Citizen of Zooville
This is admittedly a US-centric question but do you all think it's better to be a zoo in the city or the country?
On one hand the city tends to have more people and not as restrictive sexual morals.
On other hand in the country there's more of a sense of community and a better understanding of animals.
Very interested to hear how people from different areas feel about all this!

Country, for two reasons.

(1) Acreage and the space for animals to be properly cared for that acreage provides. A "small" property in the country would cost less than a "large" place in the city.

(2) Privacy. Having acreage, say 10 or more acres means you can build away from the roadway and have screening trees/shrubs between your house/barn/kennel and potential prying eyes on the roadway or adjoining properties.

Plus the quiet of the country just makes life nicer.

Have you been able to capitalize on that country location?

I’ve lived in the country most of my life but I am very much a city boy. I prefer city just cause everything is so much closer. If I had my choice I’d get a small house with a big fenced in yard that’s as central as can be. That being said when it comes to zoo, country, 100%, purely because of so much more privacy. In the city you gotta make sure your doors are locked, windows are covered, and be mindful of your noise. If you’re country enough you could scream in ecstasy in your front yard and no one would ever know :husky_laughing:

Sounds like most people are voting country!

I've come to the conclusion that a place in the country large and private enough that my wife could have sex with the dog on the front lawn with zero fear of being seen by anyone was the absolute best thing I could ever do.

However drones and people building on adjacent property after bulldozing the woods on that property has erased that. I wish I could have afforded more than 20 acres, maybe another 20 to 30 for that extra privacy.

But cops flying drones is becoming a growing privacy threat as they look for pot grow operations and check on reports of gunfire when people are target shooting on backyard ranges. And neighbors with drones being peeping toms is a serious issue. A friend had a neighbor flying a drone around his house, looking into their windows with the damn thing.

That pushes somebody wanting to enjoy zoo fun into covering windows or having property large enough that their house is out of range for drones to reach.

Sorry to hear that. Is that not illegal, or at the very least not submissible in court. I mean it’s filming on private property without the owners consent.

Doesn't prevent the repercussions from people talking about what was seen, legal filming or not. And some states allow arrest and prosecution over anything illegal a cop sees. Probably cause and all that.

emp rifle, time to start hobbies

I like being in the city, everything I need is close or at least in the general area. Being queer, city slickers are safer to be around than country folks.

In terms of zoo though, I'd prefer outskirts of suburbia/country. More room for animals to run, privacy, quiet, plus I can actually see the night sky.

Glad to finally get a city vote!
