Zoo living in a city? Advice?

Hi,

I am a male interested in female animals. I haven't lost my zoo-virginity yet. I mostly express sexuality through consumption of artistic media.

I have been interested in adopting a pet for a while, mostly because I am lonely. However, I am not sure how to do so ethically. I live in a small city and the only properties for rent are cramped apartments. This environment is not necessarily suitable for pets. I know some people have managed to keep pets healthy and happy in small environments, but, I do not feel comfortable forcing a pet to live in such a way.

The housing market is in shambles. Even in my relatively rural area, doctors can't even afford houses. Moving isn't an option for me and won't be for another couple years.

My goal is to own a companion eventually. But, I am unsure how to proceed under my current circumstance. Any advice?

I feel for you. Not being able to have your own companion can be hard, and very lonely. And I think it’s a mark of good character that you’ve maintained thay because your life isn’t the best for adding one right now. ❤️

Have you looked into other situations where you could be surrounded by animals? This would give you some of the joy—every shelter in my area, for example, adores volunteers, especially for stuff like longer walks or grooming.

I’m assuming you meant dogs, but there are also cool equine related volunteer positions, like at therapeutic riding stables, or just stables in general, as well as horse rescues.

not saying just go for it, but do keep in mind that a dog totally would live with you in a cardboard box...

Volunteering sounds like a good idea. :D

I have thought about it before, but, I have never managed to find the time. I don't have a lot of time to do much outside of my core responsibilities.

I might give it a try.
