I realise that making this thread in the first place kinda contributes to my "complaint", but it's not even really a complaint as much as it is a genuine confusion about people's motives.
Now, I have a lot of interests, and I go to places like Reddit (or previously Something Awful) or other very subject specific forums to discuss them. Whether it's my hobbies or movies I've seen or whatever, I go find the community for that thing to discuss it.
What I don't understand is the thought process that goes "I have questions/thoughts about vaccines/guns/the superbowl/etc, I'll share them at Zooville." To me that seems very strange, like me going to my arthouse film forums to ask people their thoughts on the GPU shortage, or in the case of technical subjects, like vaccines, going to a pot dispensery to ask the staff and other clientele what they think about the recent developments in fusion technology.
It just seems very odd to me. I'm a zoophile and a cinephile and musicophile and I have various other hobbies, and when I want to discuss any of them, I find communities specifically for those things.
Anyways, I'm not here to fight about it or have a big argument. The forum is what it is and the real garbage gets sent to the dumpster fire and people can keep doing what they wanna do, but I do want to understand the thought process.
