Why are photographers and videographers fascinated by animals mating?

It is clearly not a sexual thing. You also can't have it as a cover for National Geographic. Often, if you listen in the background of zoological park trip videos, you might hear laughing or a child asking what the animals are doing?

I feel it is a statement about humans, that we don't consider ourselves as animals. We look at it as some weird behavior. It is as if animal behavior is some embarrassing event in our past.

I have found a fascinating book on the topic. How To Be Animal by Melanie Challenger. Growing up, my family moved around a lot. I think that messed up the socialization process for me. Growing up, I never thought that sex or being gay were immoral. One day, I had thoughts about animals mating and I was, "Yeah, I'm into that." Though, I did know to keep it to myself. I never really felt societal pressure. I just did my own thing.
