In the bedroom or circumstances the dog can recognise, sure, but outside of that, keep it a fantasy. The odds of it leading to incidents and unwanted behavior are very big because dogs dont understand our world and norms, they need us to tell them how to react. Do you want your dog growling and barking at people outside because he is in his eyes warning an intruder when its just some jogger running past you on the sidewalk? Besides that many breeds were bred to not be in charge and get nervous and nippy when put in such a position. I totally get why the idea is hot but never let that get in the way of safety.
