Which states tend to have more zoos?

The zoo community is pretty dead where I’m at, even nearby states are usually quiet. So in which states/areas is it easier to find likeminded folks?

I don’t think it’s that simple. Rural areas with more privacy and domestic animals likely have less people but more zoos due to access to animals. Whereas a place like NYC has a ton of people, but a lot probably don’t even have a pet. So population size probably isn’t the only factor.
