Which dog breed is the most affectionate? Likes to cuddle?

Hi there! I was wondering which of the dog breeds like to cuddle the most. I know every individual dog is different, but I was hoping to learn from other like minded individuals who have significantly more experience with different breeds. Thanks!

Any short haired breed is more likely to enjoy cuddling than a long haired breed, at least in my experience.

Of the few I've had both my Labrador and Labradane love to cuddle, my golden retriever, GSD and husky/malamute did not really want to cuddle other than during the winter.

I have to agree with mare lover 1975 on this one. I have a short hair mutt mix, and a pure breed Newfoundland. While they both are pretty affectionate. Both of them will snuggle up with me at night. My newfie only lasts 10-30 minutes before she gets to hot and sleeps on the floor next to the bed where the fan I sleep with more effectively reaches her. My mutt mix is more likely to spend the whole night with me. But more loyal type breeds will also do the same generally. Think GSD and Akitas.

In my past ownership experiences I've found that a lot of east Asian lap dog breeds are super cuddlers -- shi tzu's, pugs, pekingese, Lhasa also etc -- sort of regardless of coat length. ESPECIALLY pugs. All they want is a lap haha.

But honestly all the cuddliest dogs in my life have been pound rescue mutts. Dogs who are making up for lost time from sad pasts, or who are just happy to finally be home. Those are the snuggliest bugs ?

Oh yeah, my mutt mix is pretty snuggly. While not exactly a pound mutt, she came from a neglectful home. Her previous owner used to lock her up for 14-15 hours a day, and then just let her play outside for a few hours when she got home. She showed signs of being neglected, such as being able to clearly see her ribs when I got her, and having almost no training. She also used to cower when I raised my hand to pet her, but she's mostly gotten over that. Now she lives with someone who loves and treats her right. She showed me great appreciation pretty much right off the bat. As I'm pretty attentive and affectionate towards my girls, and you know... feed them on a regular basis!

My current doggy is a absolutely cuddle bug, and at 120+ pounds is more like a good sized heated body pillow during the winter. Even though it's warm weather now she still likes to cuddle as long as I have the AC running :husky_happysmile:
