Well of it was to be an actual animal, Roscoe and Desoto from Oliver & Company. Otherwise, just as the OP said; Robin Hood and Maid Marion.

thats a hard one, well i guess bambi definitely, although queen elinor from brave when she turns into a bear is a very close second, irl i'd probably want a bear more tbh.
