whats it like being a Admin Staff?

Reconscope

Supreme Citizen of ZV
Are there additional "edit" buttons/settings? whats it look like from your point of view i always wondered how does it look like?

2ndly how is the job here (conditions wise) like is it stressful or enjoyable? (if theres another forum post asking this please direct me to there)

I'm going to guess it involves a lot of work, hate / respect from all members around here & seeing stuff others don't. (For a good reason)

Knowing what tools exist should only be known by staff anyway in my opinion.

& no I'm not part of the staff, I just like the place :)

Patience is needed. Lots of it, lol! Interface is about the same with just a few added buttons. I won't post it though, sorry. Maybe one of the other mods will if they decide it's ok. Overall enjoyable, and satisfying knowing we are keeping the sadism, CP and other horrible crap out. We also depend a lot on members for help as well, so keep your eyes open and report :D.

Personally, I do the tasks first then enjoy the rest of my time reading and going over posts, videos and pictures.

The big differences are site admin and server admin. The site admin has a lot of extra buttons for making forums and granting permissions. He also has to manage updates and all the decorations (skins) on the forum. Finally, he's responsible for backups and DB maintenance.

The server admin is the god of the forum. With root permissions he can do anything that he knows how. He also is the one to blame when an update breaks something or drive crashes. But his biggest job is keeping the baddies out.

Make sense?

reporting feels dirty to me like how Randell (from Recess show) snitches all the time, the most likely time i would report is threat level occurances that causes harm to others since thats obviously crossing the line therefore a hinderance. screw sadism/other violence.

Only admins and mods know who reports. No one else can see them.

It's not like you would break anyone's trust when you see and report something in a forum thread that is illegal to post or against the board rules. I think by reporting such content you are doing something good for this community, helping to protect it.

This. We don't need sick crap here.

Its overworked, and volunteer but we dedicate hours of our lives for YOU, our fellow zoophiles.

Basically being an admin, gives me all sorts of buttons and levers to do both great good and great evil.

Evil deeds might benefit in the short term, but in the long term they rot out a community within.

Good deeds will build the community tighter even though they might not like the choices a admin makes at that time.

Ultimately, i do it out of communal love. These people, with all their faults, are still my people and im proud to be with them.

I couldn't agree more. Having been an Admin of another zoo forum in the past, and a mod on others, I know firsthand the intricate complexities that come with the job.

Having that experience does make it a bit easier to spot trouble and report it, as I do here, and have done on every forum where I was not staff. People should not be afraid to hit the report button when they see something objectionable, or violating the rules. Those things need to be brought to the attention of staff to be dealt with as quickly as possible, for everyone's benefit.
Yes, staff will eventually find the offending posts, but speaking from experience, sifting through the forums looking for inappropriate content takes a good deal longer, and is more chance of it causing harm to the community than if someone reports it. This sends a notification to staff, directing them to the offending post so it gets seen and handled quickly.

Spotting trolls can be trickier, as many people can not tell the difference in a heated debate and someone deliberately trying to start a flame war. I'm not going to clutter the topic with a guide on this matter, but one simple point is if the poster makes any sort of personal attacks rather than simply expressing a strong viewpoint then that poster is most likely trolling. If your unsure, report it anyway.
