I was looking at a users avatar today and I thought I really find body hair on humans so unappealing, yet I love lots of hair on my animals. So I was wondering if this is a common zoo thing, or if there is the standard spread in the zoo community of those that like and dislike body hair, as exists in the general population at large.

Well hello there pretty lady, Wait! what's that between your back legs? Oh boys these days. Back in my day... :gsd_laughing:

That must take a lot of brushing to get him looking that good, well that's not to say he would be unattractive if he had an unkempt mane, but a well cared for animal is always more physically appealing to me and this guy is one handsome stallion. :gsd_happysmile:

Animals in general a way too more attractive than humans in my opinion. And that is true even for some hairless species and feathered species depending on who likes what. Human "fur" just does not reach the qualities of even the smallest dog. :D Let alone the smell or feel of it.

I wonder if the smell and feel is a big part of it, a brushed, clean animals coat does tent to be far softer to the touch than human hair. LOL I just stroked my head to check what it feels like with my current shortish hair cut. I'm actually softer to the touch than I thought I was.:gsd_laughing: But the hair on my arms pales in comparison to any animals I've ever patted.

So I'm going to say feel is definitely a component. As for smell... Well what with the fragrances in most shampoos I don't even know if I know what human hair smells like. So the scent of a dog for example, even a clean but wet dog, is still more appealing to my nose than the artificial smells applied to human hair.

That's because human hair grows 1-2 strands per follicle and is quite thick and wiry. Animal fur grows as many as hundreds per follicle and is much thinner and pliant.

I wouldn’t say I really have a type. Hairy humans. Hairless humans. Hairy animals. Hairless animals (sphinx is my favorite breed of cat!)

Once I reached a certain age, body hair became a thing. It’s not to the point where I look like I’m wearing a sweater, but it’s there…mostly on my back. I wish it were grey instead of black.?
