I am zoosexual because I was denied imprinting and socialization per the best scientific and medical advice of the day (the works of John Broadus Watson, for example). This experience also prompted me to retain--instead of replace--the ability for non-symbolic thinking ("animal consciousness" or "intuition") we all have at birth when I learned to speak and think in words (symbolically).
Sexual interaction is a form of communication (a form I have not exercised for over 30 years), the exchange of information between entities. In my experience our animal partners are both listening to our verbal/non-verbal messages and sending non-verbal messages of their own. Some of those messages I cannot "hear" (receive). Some messages I can hear but not understand. I admit that I have also selfishly ignored messages I did not want to hear.
The non-verbal messages I could understand were sometimes trivial: let's play, how about some treats, sexy time, etc. Some messages were profound and taught me about my partners, about myself, and about our relationship to our environment.
For example, my first SO (significant other) had four paws and taught me about love (beyond eros).
My second SO had two feet and taught me that I was human.
My third SO had four hooves and taught me to listen to God.
What have you learned from non-human teachers?
