OK I am older 65, I have had the opportunity to travel some of the world other than the USA and weighing the governments I’ve been in to include, Iraq, Belize, Costa Rica, Grand Caymon, Belize, Brazil, Romaina, Netherlands,, Germany the USA is still the BEST for FREEDOM of the INDIVIDUAL. To those that are younger than me study history use your mind, don’t let the moment at sway judge your decision. The USA is still an experiment in history. If we use 1776 as a date the USA has lasted so what 247 years, Rome went 1000. Thomas Jefferson; When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty), What country before ever existed a century and a half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time.

The civil war could be considered a rebellion as part of the country tried to separate itself. It was just an unsuccessful one. Whether it was right or wrong is an entirely different question. Not all rebellions are righteous.

I won’t say the south’s rebellion wasn’t without justification either. Contrary to most individuals opinions, slavery was a strong underlying issue and a constitutional one but the Constitution was set up as a Strong STATE and weak Federal government, the result of the USA Civil War resulted in the Federal Government achieving more power than was intended in the Constitution. Granted as time progressed and for the USA to remain a cohesive body and force we require one over riding power.

There are supposed to be checks and balances but no system is perfect because people are flawed and don't always do as they should.
