Underrated dog breeds

It's no secret that German Shepherds, Great Danes, mastiffs, Labs, and pitbulls seem to be the most popular breeds in this world.

What's a less-talked-about breed that gets your motors running like no one else?

Newfoundlands for me, all the way. Beautiful, shaggy, and affectionate.

Agreed Newfies are awesome! Big, fluffy and real sweet hearts.

I've only met 2 but Tibetan Mastiffs are also pretty good. But I love so many bigger breeds for a variety of reasons.

Beauceron , ridgeback, broholmer, etc
Gonna second the Beauce. Beautiful dogs.

My choice is a Dutch Shepherd. GORGEOUS dogs, and hyper intelligent, with a very striking coat.

I'm also quite partial to Tamaskans, Samoyed, and Japanese Kai Ken.

Setters are one of my absolute favorite breeds. However, they seem to be somewhat underrepresented in the forum.
I think there are a lot of breeds underrepresented on here, I guess people tend to fall for those breeds they see more often, so if you don't see Setters regularly people may not think of them unless it was love at first sight when they came across the breed. They are nice dogs though.

I would have to say Labs. If you look at all the zoo porn out there. Every person out there has a German Shepherd, husky, or some "Big Powerful" breed. Labs are sweet loyal and at least in my case mine has a HUGE cock.

Labs are kinda famous, though... ?

I would say that some hunting dogs are really sexy: Kurzhaar and bloodhounds are among my faves :husky_happysmile:

Golden Retriever
I'm a bit surprised you think GRs are underrated they are very popular here in Australia which by extension would mean that a good number of zoos probably have one in the house as well. I mean what's not to love a big fluffy coat, good personality and behaviour, fairly easy to train with a reasonable amount of intelligence and a good size for bedroom activities. They are a good all round dog.

Well not very popular in my country and in this website.

I have a thing for basset hounds, they're insanely well hung for their size
That's because they are actually big dogs with short legs, stupid humans breeding for shortness, maybe it was to get their noses closer to the ground for scent work, but it's pretty rough when your erection can drag on the ground, it can sort of take some of the fun out of getting hard.

I have a few I could probably add, but I've seen them listed above already. Except for one... Catahoula Leopard Dog. They are a beautiful and cool breed.

Since I hadn't ever heard of this breed I had a look, they come in so many colours and no two seem to be the same. They are very beautiful indeed. And Heterochromia looks to be very common in the breed, which is interesting but probably shouldn't be surprising given their coat patterns.

They are beautiful and unique puppers right? I had actually never heard of them either until I think last year? I was watching some show about travel and a random guy who trained/performed with several dogs came on for a few minutes. One of the dogs he had with him was a female Catahoula. She also had the heterochromia, it does seem to be extemely common with them. She was gorgeous.

Needless to say after that showing I was hooked and had to look into the breed some. Haven't stopped thinking about them since.
