Trying to figure out what breed to get.

Hey guy

I'm happy to say I'll be able to get back to the zoo life real soon. It's been years since I've had any dogs that wanted to play and I've been really missing it. Come the end of this year or early next year ill be purchasing a house of my own and with it I plan to get two dogs.

I will definitely be getting a mastiff puppy as I just love the massive lovable dopes. I'm not sure on what breed I'd like the other one to be or if I want to get another puppy or adopt a 2-3 year old. I think adopting would be great as he would probably be house trained already which would help with training the puppy. At the same time I'd love to have another puppy and would prefer neither of them to be fixed. I'm just looking for some suggestions and any insights you could share. As far as breeds go I prefer and love giant and larger dog breeds. I also live in a very hot and humid climate lately its been 95-100° over 80% humidity. I spend alot of time hiking, camping and being outdoors and would want them to come with me When I go. I was thinking of either a boerbell or beauceron. This will be my first time training a puppy all on my own though I have helped train all my dogs growing up. So I'd prefer a easier to train breed.

i don't think a mastiff is good fit for a hiking buddy or are you planning on leaving him home and having only the other one accompany you? if yes, why not just get two who will fit your lifestyle?

I would plan to leave him home during the hot season like we are in now. I generally spend alot less time hiking in this weather and usually do shorter hikes. In this heat I generally spend time in the rivers or lakes near by either day trips or camping. I do most of my outdoor hobbies in the spring and fall where it's more bareable. Usually in the winter/summer I spend atleast half my free time doing hobbies at home or having friends over. I'd like the balance of being able to take both my dog on more mild hikes and camping trips but also being able to bring one on say a 2 day overnight trip. I don't do those all too often but I do like to do a few a year.
