popped into that chat last night (very friendly) spoke to husky and tesla which was fun. Alot of them had PC building knowledge and it made me think what about creating a private VR chat room for us via oculus quest? Its completely private no way anyone could be tracked or even enter without authorisation. Could all have different avitars. Maybe make a pub club or even a barnyard lol. What do the admits think? If someone could set it up and request the room ID so only zooville admins could give access?

The question of it security is much more complicated than that. Let alone building a software capable of handling hundrets of people in real time in 3d space while providing strong security.
You would need to send a lot of data which would have to be strongly encrypted which is difficult to do quickly.
There would be exactly the same dangers any other secure chat app has to deal with with added problems of additional data.

I think you miss understand. You seem to be suggesting the idea has to be created from the ground up? This is not the case its already done, we simply need to pic a place. Vr chat is designed in such a way that banning, muting hosting hundreds etc is already widely available with literally unlimited amounts of available spaces. All that needs to be done is select 1 make the room private and then allow vetted people in. Its very basic these days. Anyone interested should first research oculus quest vr chat etc. As far as data encryption is concerned there is 0 chance of tracking.

I mean, the problem is that the price is still a bit too high atm for the average joe to afford a headset, let alone a HTC Vive. Both together would cost like nearly $1500 currently.

Ah someone that knows their tech! Thats right however the Quest 2 is due to drop shortly with a price tag of around $300 brand new and will be hitting the second hand market shortly after for alot less. This stand alone (won't need to be plugged in) has the power to run vr chat easily. I run a quest with the old chip setup from s8 and it runs vrchat crazy smooth.

Have you read their terms of service? I bet they have a line about collecting user data and if necessary sharing this data with 3rd parties for advertisement purposes or authorities if requested.

Encryption means nothing if the keys are held by a company willing to disclose your data for the greater good.

I'd like to bet that forums are already moving towards this type of technology already and wouldn't be surprised if there are not other forums like this trying it out. If anyone has vr amd believes there could be merit in such an idea your advice would be interesting. Remeber everything can be hidden u can even be invisible to others while in the room and remove all ur ids even ur fake ones. There won't be anything illegal about it as no illegal acts can take place just people chatting (in the forum chat here its 99.9% just general chat anyway
