Thank you admin - back up

Esteemed Citizen of ZV
Round of applause to the admins for getting the site back up and going tonight. So many of use casually pop on and off here and scurry around without giving much, or any thought into what it takes to keep everything going, while also keeping the herd in line.

little outage like today, reminds us how this little community we call home, could just go poof and we would all be back in the dark.

??

Yes, thank you. Seriously. I've never been itching to talk to people as much as I have today during the outage. Doing the usual "is it down" search, I also found an estimate for revenue that the site makes, and damn. But either way, super appreciative that it's here. I had literally nowhere to turn today, there's no other place like this.

I mean, considering all the Russian related zoo content I've seen online, I can see how one would jump to a conclusion like that.
It is funny how all the “Russian” content is actually Ukrainian or Belarusian. It is totally illegal in Russia.

Fair, it's not so much the language, as the video titles that I'm going off of, so if they're wrong, then I have wrong information, y'know?
goth of those countries speak Russian and actually many of the resident still identify as Russians. So it is more, idk whatever you want to call it.

Can't be anywhere close to 1.8 mil a year could it? (Now that's according to the site's estimate, I don't know exactly how accurate it is, but it says that Facebook pulls 2.2 billion a year in ad revenue alone (which apparently was grossly underestimated, they pulled 114 billion in 2022), and google pulls 11.5 billion a year on ads (237.8 billion for google in 2023). So judging by the tendency to underestimate, I'm going to say it's probably more. Which I mean... damn.... either way.

those estimates are usually based on traffic. it is sort of a scan because every post we make shows a always growing site. the estimate is that with every x number of interactions, it presumes the owner is getting paid $x -- rarely is it reality.

March 11 10 AM going to be down again. So what really goes down in the scheduled maintaince??? Do they delete posts?

it can be cumbersome to run such a community,
that and it can get expensive too, because you gotta rent that server, buy a domain and put your free time into this project

Since most of the people in the area speak russian, the videos of the neighboring countries are also in russian. Logical.
We also speak english here, even though we are not english.
