So a question preceeded by the reason for it...
Currently staying at a holiday cottage location and there are (beautiful) horses here that are friendly as anything and much time has been spent grooming them. One of the mares is very nervous about having her tail area touched/groomed and last night possibly saw why...when I was out having a smoke, the cottage owner and another guy came out looking rather intoxicated, took her from the field (rather unceremoniously) to the yard leaving one of her field mates whinnying in what sounded like a desire for either them to leave her alone or for her to come back, the yard itself is out of view but I heard a lot of hoof noise on the concrete and a couple of loud neighs, grooming her this morning it was clear what had transpired by the marks and deposits left on her hindquarters. I don't know who, if anyone, this could be mentioned to? I wanted to share it a) to see if there was and b) because it has been weighing heavy and felt it needed to be in the open....

I’d be going to RSPCA or equivalent. I think lots of zoos are afraid of reporting things like this in case it comes back on them, but this is clearly not a consensual thing with the mare. She needs protecting and the RSPCA can do that :)

That's just wrong and needs to be stopped. She sounded very unhappy from your description and they need reporting to the RSPCA asap. Bastards.

Report this to someone of high authority. From your description this mare is in all probability being raped. Protect her please!!

So I spoke to a friend at World Horse Welfare (wouldn't touch RSPCA with a barge pole) and they have current information surrounding this individual and informed them of the concern, aside from that I have been doing all I can to support her which is having a positive effect....
