Sizing a Mare

I learned it’s rarely the case that mares enjoy sex year round and outside their estrus cycles, and also that every mare is an individual and is not always interested. Is there still something that can be done while trying to find out if it’s worth investing time and effort in flirting with a certain mare so that she becomes a joyable girlfriend some day in the future? Here’s what I learnt so far…
- prefer Arabian over other races
- ideal time to collect data points about her would be best in the Spring (due to heat)
- flirt gently (bite neck, rub below tail) and observe the response

Since I am a total beginner, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
